The note is a telegram, she has married because she thought there was no chance with Tommy and in that time a woman needed to be married to be respected in society as an upper class woman. May is a business partnership, she has influence with the board that will help him get into the horse racing circles he needs to execute his plan. Field Marshal Russell, which by the way is not someone from Tommy's army past is involved in the Irish war of Independence fought between the IRA and the British Army. I think though that he does genuinely like May. Grace has started to thaw Tommy's frozen heart so he does care again. Always so excited to see your reactions. Like the format of not having to sync up with my own copy.
