2025-02-16 23:14:49 +0000 UTCI went back for some research today and found the image of Sulvain in chain mail with sword and buckler; it appeared in a story he told during his trip with Raziol out on the lake. So then I looked up the history of sword and buckler, and they're OLD. "The primary use of the buckler in Europe was by infantry. Light infantry, made up of commoners armed with bucklers and swords or falchions lined up behind troops with pole-weapons, were used frequently in armies during the 1100s to 1300s. Though some of them are more of "this could happen" type of scenario, or AU. If the sketches seem like they are plausible then I would definitely consider them canon. :D When we get the chance, we'll post a timeline of when all the comics and bonus comics occur. :)

You've been so generous with images of Sulvain and Raziol, and those seem to suggest that the timeline as seen in the comic itself may have "missed" some of those moments of intimacy. Are we to conclude that all of it is canon, and that some of those images come from experiences from the 1600s timeline that didn't make it into the central story arc? I admit that's how I want to think about it, since they had so few opportunities to enjoy each other before it all came crashing down...

2025-02-10 23:04:18 +0000 UTCI've been having thoughts about the language aspect of this (because I've studied language acquisition and I can't help myself) and it's super solid, so kudos to KaiJu! Raziol came from a multilingual society in India to begin with and moved to France as a child, so his pronunciation of French would be perfect and his ear for new languages would also be excellent, so I'd expect him to speak English like a Californian here. As for Sulvain, we don't know when he started to pick up other languages. He surely spoke Old French and possibly even some form of Celtic, but since he doesn't speak aloud, pronunciation questions are moot. And the written grammar of new languages is far easier to pick up. I can't help wondering if that was something you researched, KaiJu, or whether you just had the insight of personal experience to go on! Anyway, it's awesome.

It happened on our side when you guys edited the page number from "2" to "3". It might do it more for others compared to other patrons. (Like we just got the additional email with the one change, but someone else might get 3 emails) /Gen

2025-02-10 18:15:42 +0000 UTCYou can turn it off in your settings I think (for app) On the home page click your avatar -> settings -> notification settings and you should have all your creators list where you can click specific creator and play with settings. I have emails turn off completely for creators and rely purely on app notifications. (For the desktop) The 3 bars thing in the top left ->settings -> notification emails (I'm translating it from polish back to English so it can have different name) -> again creators list Maybe this will help?

But when Raziol left Paris, he was a newly turned vampire who likely had no one to help him. Heโs probably done a lot of things that weigh on him while learning to control his hunger. ๐๐

Especially after flashbacks to his childhood, it's always been clear that long hair has been part of an uncomfortable mask He's had to wear to fit into French society. Silly goofball Raz is surely still there, but not in the awkward, nervous way we remember from the 17th century. I love it for him.

But I can see Sulvain signing Raziol's name to himself every night for 300 years. Now he's doing what he dreamt of, as I said before. His wildest dreams are coming true. And it looks like the shock is starting to wear off. Hmmm? I did not know that Sulvain (a necromancer inhabiting his own corpse) could feel that kind of shock. No. I know he's capable of emotion. But to let emmotion affect you physically like that, I mean, he's necromancing himself. It just makes me think/believe that love is the greatest kind of power/magic. It's quite literally bringing Sulvain's body back to life. Yes. I know what I just said about love and it's almost Valentine's Day.

I immediately burst out crying ( may not help that iโm listening to phoebe bridgers Moon song as I read- ) BUT GAH- Been such a hard year so far alreadyโ and I genuinely mean it when I say, reading Novae and seeing the beautiful art never fails to make me smile, truly so overwhelmed with so many questions and feelings!. It reminds me of how in admits the darkest of days I found Novae four years ago and started reading it, it felt like a light in my life, it motivated my art, helped with my language and vocabulary, changed honestly so much of my life in a positive way- it motivated me to write my own story and ocs! Truly couldnโt thank you enough for creating this !!! sorry for the sappy comment! Just so happy they reconnected for real, GAH SO EXCITED! This is a beautiful start of something old and ever-lasting !!

Sulvain was just starting to reveal more about himself when they were separated. And then Sulvain got really hurt and wasnโt there when Raziol returned. (Plus, is 300 years enough time to recover from Hargraveโs compulsion?) Maybe Raziol did some digging himself into Magoi and magic, but heโs still in the dark about so much. But now Raziol possibly has a list of secrets too that he might not be proud of.
