Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins - Money in the Bank 2016

Watch: https://streamable.com/5nx01s

Comments

The one night all three Shield members were World Champions. Roman walked in as champ, Seth won it from him and then Dean cashed in on Seth. One of my favorite nights in the history of The Shield.

Chad

As if everything else is safe for kids to try 😆 but i guess it makes sense. I'm glad it's back though! It's one of my favorites from him.

Tallywags

Vince thought it was too violent-looking….Seth says in an interview that Vince didn’t like the way it looked on the Today Show.

Kam

i believe it was because it was seen as a very dangerous move for kids to try and imitate , and also the name “curb stomp” has quite violent connotations. i’m guessing it was brought back because they realised it wasn’t really an issue, however it was called the stomp since it returned

panda

Wait why was the stomp banned??

Tallywags

Thanks! I appreciate that 😊 I look forward to making more appearances!

Tallywags

Can we just all agree that Tally adds extra spice to reaction videos and is a great addition :D ? Great job Guys! I really enjoyed it :)

TheBlueOne

Yeah it was banned right after WrestleMania 31 and didn’t get unbanned until January 2018. Almost 3 years without the curb stomp was painful ngl.

Oscar Islas

I thought Seth looked great! And yea I noticed those little glimpses of the tribal chief ☝️

Tallywags

One thing to note, iirc this was during an era where Seth wasn't allowed to use the curb stomp which is why he started using the pedigree instead.

Yeah Seths injury took place at a house show in Dublin, Ireland in November 2015. Seth tore his ACL, his MCL and his meniscus. Roman meanwhile, would be suspended two days after this show for a wellness policy violation. So for almost the entirety of the build for Ambrose vs Rollins vs Reigns at Battleground the following month, it was just Ambrose and Rollins involved in it.

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

That’s right! Sorry, my brain may have short circuited there hehe

Basment of Owls

I have seen him at double or nothing and I've seen a shield match as well

Dport

He wrestled Takeshita on that card in an IWGP eliminator if I'm not mistaken

This Roman week has been a nostalgic trip!!! I was watching this in school back then and popped so hard when Ambrose came out, tht was the first time I ever saw a cash in on the same night at MITB 😅😅 They would go on to have a triple threat at the following ppv, Battleground which was also another great match!

Izz002

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I may have Just Noticed you may not have watched a Mox (Ambrose) match yet, but my memory may be shot. He’s honestly my favourite out of all the previous Shield members, but I do very much love them all. (My Apologies, you may have seen him on Double or Nothing 2024.)

Basment of Owls

All 3 members of the shield WWE Champion within 5 minutes, i remember watching this live it was awesome.

Fun fact: Seth became the first person to ever beat Roman clean. To this day only a handful of people have done it, with Seth actually doing it twice. The build to this match was sort of odd because the crowd were cheering Seth when he came back, and wanted desperately for him to be a Face. They also hated Roman as a Face, but Vince stuck with the Heel Seth and Face Roman dynamic for the build up, even though during the actual match it was flipped like Seth was the Face and Roman the Heel. Loved seeing bits of Tribal Chief Roman here though. A not so fun fact: Seth has since said that he was 15lbs heavier here and hated his performance in this match. I personally think he did great, especially considering it was his first match in over 7 months. One more thing, that move that Seth never hits is called the Phoenix Splash lol. Sorry for the long post but I hope this was informative.

Oscar Islas

lol I edited my comment to say just that before I saw your reply

Drew Or Die

Everyone said there was zero chance cm punk came back too 😉 never say never

Dport

Jon Moxley (dean ambrose) has made it very clear he won't ever come back to WWE even with the regime change. On top of that he's pretty much Mr.AEW at this point so there is not a chance Tony Khan would let it happen. Moxley pretty much has a blank check that he can write in however much he wants every time his contract comes up with everything he has done for AEW. So as cool as it would be the chances are near zero. With that said a few years ago I would have said the same thing about Cm Punk and look what happened there

Drew Or Die

Hey it would be fun, watching a Mania every day
