Eddie Guerrero vs Brock Lesnar - No Way Out 2004

Eddie seems like someone I would have really enjoyed watching every week.

Tazz was correct. STF is a Stepover Toehold with a Facelock. Cole saying “fatigue is starting to set in” at the EXACT same time you yawned was pretty hilarious as well. Long match, but one of the most satisfying endings ever.

Big Ell

Eddie was my favorite growing up. It actually broke my heart when he died.

Jordan Alford

Great match, I agree with you that it was a bit too long and the interference and ref bump at the end didn't do much for me. Brock's selling of the knee was a bit spotty but otherwise his performance in the match was awesome, that missed jumping knee in the corner was so sick. ***3/4

Hey josh u have to go listen to a stone cold and cena interview on Austin podcast stone cold told him u need to put it in better it dont look good others do it alot better like Eddie and samoe Joe

Ryan Evans

Brock sold that knee so well all match! Every step he took it looked excruciating. I’m very impressed

To give you an idea of the Brock timeline, Brock left WWE after WrestleMania 20 ( ~ 1 month after this match) and went into the NFL. He was on the practice team for the Minnesota Vikings for a while, then went to the UFC. Suplex City started as him trash-talking Roman Reigns during their match at WrestleMania 31.

Adam Nelson

And that turned into a match that would have qualified for the Weird/Bad matches week.

Adam Nelson

Man, it’s fine. There are SO many unwritten rules in WWE. There are some videos on YouTube that cover them if you’re interested.

Gai Valentine

Today I learned!

Cena’s STF looks worse because instead of wrapping the hands around the nose like Eddie (how it’s supposed to be done). Cena wraps his hands under the chin instead

Snazzyway

Goldberg was feuding with Lesnar at the time which is why Goldberg attacked Lesnar.

Chad

We didn't get Suplex City Brock Lesnar until Summerslam 2014. This was way before Suplex City.

Christopher Barnes

If your attempt to get back in the ring is interrupted by your opponent, the count is restarted

Gai Valentine

I had this event on DVD along with the previous years No Way Out and the following two years. I’ve only ever seen this match two or three times and the last time I watched it I was tired and fell asleep.

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

Hope the Segment I linked didn't disappoint. Eddie was my favorite wrestler as a kid. To give a bit more context in 2001 Eddie was released from WWE for receiving a dui and his problems with drugs as a whole. He worked the independents for the next two years well getting clean and eventually earned his way back to WWE before tragically passing away in 2005 due to an undiagnosed heart disease

Drew Or Die

Kinda eerie since Eddie Guerrero died in Minneapolis, MN a little over a year later on November 13, 2005

Christopher Barnes

Fun fact: a 14 year old Bayley was in the audience for this match. Eddie was one of her heroes growing up.
