In 2015 I stopped watching bc of Roman winning the rumble, and I tought coming back in 2019, and that match happened and I'm like nope. Until Triple H made it great again. And now I watch every week

2024-07-02 05:37:18 +0000 UTCBut it’s not like they had to book this in Hell in a Cell anyway. They had Becky vs Sasha earlier in the night and they could have done New Day vs Randy Orton and The Revival in the Cell if they hadn’t had Kofi lose to Lesnar on SmackDowns Fox debut.

2024-06-23 15:49:57 +0000 UTCAnd then The Fiend’s momentum was stopped again a few months later when he faced Goldberg in Saudi Arabia.

2024-06-23 15:48:30 +0000 UTCBesides the fact this is Hell in a Cell, the match type where Foley was thrown off the roof and through the roof and the match didn’t end.

2024-06-23 15:46:56 +0000 UTCI was so into The Fiend when this happened. I listened to his entrance theme on repeat for months after SummerSlam. The Fiends debut at SummerSlam is one of the greatest character debuts ever. It’s obvious that this match only happened because The Fiend was so over and they hotshotted him to a title match. I haven’t watched this since it happened, and the first half of it up until Seth starts hitting The Stomp repeatedly (he hit it eleven times by the way) isn’t that bad. The red lighting was fucking diabolical. They’d do it during the rematch at Crown Jewel and The Fiend’s match at Survivor Series against Daniel Bryan but after that they would come to their senses and stop. Seth has said in an interview that he and Bray had a different lay out to the match but this was what Vince wanted. Seth told him fans wouldn’t like it and when he got backstage, people had to hold him back from punching Vince. What they should have done was have The Fiend just completely squash Seth in this match. Make it violent and extremely dominate and it could have been something really memorable. But alas, it is memorable for all the wrong reasons.

2024-06-23 15:43:42 +0000 UTCIt's interesting watching you go through the same realizations and rationalities a lot of wrestling fans were having during this match. This is a very frustrating match to watch because the ending benefits no one.

2024-06-21 15:39:26 +0000 UTCMan, I'm glad you pick up wrestling when Triple H took over. I watch all Raw, Smackdown and PPV of WWE from 2009 to 2016. WWE from 2017-2020 is painful to watch man, that period is when I drop it and sometime I just watch some highlight, it just purely sad at that time.

2024-06-21 13:28:55 +0000 UTCNo match has ever made me this angry before. Between the red lights and the god awful ending of a dq in a match that has no dq's it was bad all around. As others have said already this was the reason why I and many other only watched AEW for a long time after this. It wasn't until the pandemic when i really didn't have anything else to do that I actually started watching WWE again

2024-06-21 10:08:34 +0000 UTCThis was such a dark time in wwe, Seth Rollins finally getting to the top of the mountain but being relegated to being the glorified stand-in for Roman Reigns in Vinces eyes with that infamous vanilla babyface booking of his. This match in particular also turned a lot of fans cold on the product which ultimately led to AEW gaining a lot of traction early on, one of the only silver linings to come out of this I guess 🤣

2024-06-21 05:39:41 +0000 UTCThis was peak Vince McMahon bad booking. I don't know how you have a supernatural character like The Fiend can take 12 curb stomps, a pedigree, chairshots to the head, a ladder shot to the head, a toolbox to the head and survived without much damage and the match wasn't stopped until Seth brought out a hammer. The Fiend is a supernatural character besides the fact that this is a hell in a Cell Match, pinfalls and submissions only.

2024-06-21 02:32:43 +0000 UTCThey actually have had hell in a cell matches where theyve climbed to the top of the cage and bumped off it quite a few times somewhat recently (I won't mention which matches incase it spoils something though), so I don't believe it's considered to be too dangerous by WWE.

2024-06-21 01:12:39 +0000 UTCHey josh was this match the worst match u ever seen since being a wrestling fan I know few who's watched wrestling since 90s say it the worse match they ever seen I heard seth say on the Steve Austin podcast he was furious with vince and told him that can't happen again
Ryan Evans
2024-06-20 23:59:25 +0000 UTCSeeing that match would make anyone not want to watch wwe again I've watched wwe since 2000 and 2019 to 22 was the worse wwe ever been it was wcw 2000 bad that why everyone was happy who just ain't a wwe fan and says everything else sucks as aew gave an alternative to wwe on a big stage like wcw did in late 90s and gave the wrestlers somewhere else to work having aew is great for wrestling under vince his last 10 years he had millions stop watching his shows they were that bad
Ryan Evans
2024-06-20 23:37:53 +0000 UTCGood on you. I got into it in 2011 and did stop watching from 2016 to mid 2019. No particular reason just lost interest. I’m sad I missed the Smackdown live era!! I got back into it at literally the worst time, though. It was 2019, and they were building to Becky and Seth vs Baron and Lacey at Extreme Rules. Idk how that kept me interested but I stuck around and boy am I glad I did.

2024-06-20 22:28:45 +0000 UTCThis match was infuriating to watch live, watching the unkillable monster lie there while seth hit him with more and more of his fucking garage because vince refused to let bray win a big match completely killed brays momentum. Even worse they had to give the title to bray a month later anyway because everyone was so sick of rollins.
Sam Tolan
2024-06-20 22:01:31 +0000 UTCApologies if you’ve already had this explained to you. The lantern is the head of Brays old character, the cult leader gimmick. It was treading water for a while up to that point until Bray decided to change it to the fiend. All the puppets are actually references to Brays past. Mercy the Buzzard is a reference to the original WWE character that Brays cult leader gimmick was based on, Waylon Mercy. Huskus the pig boy represents Brays 1st gimmick in WWE as Husky Harris. Vince hated Brays body and would constantly tell him to lose weight. Abby the Witch is who Cult Leader Bray would say he was doing everything for. Why he was hurting people and essentially his “God.” Rambling Rabbit represents what people would often say about Brays promos at the time. He’d ramble and ramble just to lose the big matches. Eventually you can only lose so many big matches before people start to not take you seriously and that’s essentially what happened. Bray kept losing so no one took him seriously. Rambling Rabbit constantly getting “killed” in the fun house represents all the losses that Bray took. A big reason why everyone hated this match is bc it reminded everyone of the old Bray of rambling and rambling and losing the big matches, which is what this character absolutely DIDNT need. He didn’t technically lose but it felt like one and it was obvious the company wasn’t as behind him as they were trying to make it seem

2024-06-20 21:59:33 +0000 UTCThis was peak out of touch Vince booking. The Fiend was the most popular act in all of wrestling so he wanted him in a main event title match. But he also didn’t want Rollins to lose the belt yet. So because Vince didn’t want Seth to lose and no one wanted Bray to lose, we get a DQ in a Hell in a Cell match. The year before, we also got another Hell in a Cell non finish in the main event. This was so bad that X-Pac (a former wrestler) ranted about it live on the post show. And to top it off, Bray would beat Seth a few weeks later in Saudi. So why not just have Bray win here? If the match ended at around the 16:20 point of this video (Seth hits a stomp, Bray immediately stands up and hits a Sister Abigail) that would have been great. You’d have a popular, strong looking monster champion that could carry the belt into Wrestlemania. Yes the lighting would have been annoying, but the match would have been fine. TL;DR No matter how many little problems you may have with how HHH books, it is infinitely better than the last 15 years of Vince.

2024-06-20 21:57:00 +0000 UTCYea I've heard they were going more of a serial killer vibe instead. I think that's a great idea.

2024-06-20 21:54:32 +0000 UTCBut you'll be glad to know someone from WWE production recently said to a news source that the plan for the Wyatt Sick6 is to tone down the supernatural, because quote, "You can't wrestle ghosts." So if and when the Funhouse gang do start wrestling matches, they won't have the magical powers to turn the house lights red, or project worms into the ring from a top-down projector, or no sell 50 of their opponents finishers.
Charlie
2024-06-20 21:43:15 +0000 UTCThis is one of the major examples of why I'm glad I got into WWE last year, and not like 5-10 years ago. Something like this would have broken me for a while.
Dport
2024-06-20 21:42:27 +0000 UTCThe problem with The Fiend is that it's supposed to be a wrestling gimmick. In what world can you feasibly write a professional wrestler, a regular man, to defeat a literal inhuman monster. They'd booked Seth Rollins v The Fiend, with no intention of having The Fiend walk out as champion, but had no way of having Seth believably force a creature from Bray's imagination to stay down for a 3-count, and I guess the only thing they could come up with was a DQ. But the PPV was called Hell in a Cell, so of course the match HAD to happen in a cell, where DQ's aren't a thing... However with Vince in charge the rules rarely meant anything and he thought if you just brush over it and don't really explain what happened everyone would just go along with it, so the ring announcer never actually said "Here is your winner by disqualification" or anything, the bell just rings and chaos ensues then they quickly cut the feed.
Charlie
2024-06-20 21:40:46 +0000 UTCI also believe the crowd was changing refund at the end but that didn't make it to the archive because you don't want people to hear refund chants

2024-06-20 21:35:33 +0000 UTCI definitely think this is worth reacting. Maybe when he does another theme suggestion poll and Promos win we can suggest this.

2024-06-20 21:33:18 +0000 UTCBut you should react to the OG funhouse promos. There is a 30 minute videos with all of them before the fiend officially debuted 🔥🔥. On the YouTube channel of wwe. 4 years ago

2024-06-20 21:18:25 +0000 UTCThe glove that Uncle Howdy had Bray on was the same hand Bray had the hurt glove on As for this match, this match sucked so much it was a painful time after, I didn't stop watching, but was close to stopping then, because Fiend was my favorite wrestler and he was just getting his credibility, no one felt fiend needed the title, the red light hurts it also, and then the ending is by far one of the worst things also, so much bad from this match, and it also doesn't help at the time Seth was not doing himself any favors with what he was saying on Twitter (it isn't anything bad persay just he was being an annoying company man on it, and picking fights with indie guys, about there pay compaired to his)

2024-06-20 21:17:22 +0000 UTCThat's fair. I think I'm just still used to traditional sports ages lol
Dport
2024-06-20 21:15:41 +0000 UTCAlso don’t worry about Seth recently turning 38. In wrestling years that’s not that old. Shawn started his second run in WWE at 37 and he lasted for nearly 8 years. AJ Styles debuted in WWE at 38 back in 2016 and he’s still killing it. Think about it like this, Seth is still younger than guys like Cody, Roman, Sami, KO, Finn, Priest, Jey, and Drew and those guys still seem to be in their prime as well.

2024-06-20 21:13:47 +0000 UTCSorry I liked the post but I can’t watch this again. RIP Fiend!! 🤦♂️💯
Phillyman!!
2024-06-20 21:13:26 +0000 UTCThere are a lot of matches voted on that I haven’t seen but I’ve heard about. I was kicking myself after the poll went out that I didn’t suggest a Great Khali Punjabi Prison match. With the amount of rules involved that would be chaos.
