This is one of my favorite Summerslam stage designs. They used this for Summerslam 2004/2005/2006. Also, that Hogan Bury Krunch that spelled HBK was a good sign.

2024-06-23 06:15:52 +0000 UTCBasically the deal was that they made a deal where it would be a trilogy of matches with Hogan winning the first, Shawn winning the second and Hogan winning the third at Wrestlemania 22 but the night of SummerSlam Hogan backed out of the other two matches because he didn't wanna lose any of the matches and wanted to win all three and they wouldn't change it for Hogan so he just told them that this would be the only match of theirs and that he was backing out of the other two matches so Shawn oversold every single move Hogan hit to an almost ridiculous level and turned the match into a comedy skit. This was Shawn's way of pouting that he didn't get the deal he wanted.

It's really only in the first portion of the match and then the finish with the big boot. It's a fine match with an interesting behind the scenes story to it. I personally think people wouldn't care about it as much if it was anyone other than Michaels and Hogan tbh.

He really was just selling his ass off in the way that he would have in the 90s. Honestly I believe him. It always struck me as odd that in order to express his bitterness, Shawn would choose to oversell Hogan's moves and make them look stupidly powerful for no reason. I think Shawn's thinking was more along the lines of "if I'm gonna lose, I'm gonna make him look unbeatable."

2024-06-17 20:06:59 +0000 UTCWrestlers usually cut themselves in the forehead because a small cut will bleed in a way that looks like they're bleeding a ton but usually isn't actually that much blood (so it's relatively safe to do). That's why you end up seeing blood covering their faces so much.

Theres actually a hogan clip where he made it very obvious, he cut himself standing in the middle of the ring before turning around to get hit by a chair lmao.

2024-06-17 18:20:57 +0000 UTCHere’s a fun little story about this show. I uploaded the match card run down from the Raw before on YouTube and as of now it has 66K views. Dunno why, dunno how, but it does. Anyone else hitting the link, making it full screen and then getting kicked back when turning your phone sideways? Also you gotta do a bonus for this match where you watch the Larry King parody and HBKs promo on Raw the night after this match where he buries Hogan. In the last match HBK had jeans on and the other matches you’ve watched he’s wearing baggy pants but for a few years after his return he wore tights but had to switch to the pants because of a knee brace he had to wear. I forgot to mention too in in the SummerSlam 02 match that it was only supposed to be a one off which is why Triple H attacked Shawn after the match. But it turned out so well he stuck around for eight years.
