The announcer with Jim Ross is Jerry the King Lawler, who is as legendary as it gets. I hope you get a documentary on him, or find some info about his famous “angle” with Andy Kaufman. PS after this match on WM21 is a Piper’s Pit segment with Stone Cold which shows exactly why the “what” chants will never die. Some fans want so badly to BE the show instead of just watching and enjoying the show.

2024-06-12 17:16:52 +0000 UTCI'll give a small bit of reference for the ref, this was the height of the brand split, I think this was very much RAW vs Smackdown era in terms of they were trying to set it up to be self competing, so when they mentioned the ref being Smackdown and Kurt was a Smackdown superstar, I think they were playing into that a bit, I think the ref was playing a good role. If you notice, most of the fast counts early are when HBK is being pinned, and the sus long count is on Kurt

There’s some Midnight Express tag matches or some Ricky Steamboat matches you’d lose your mind on the way they sell and the athleticism/how clean and smooth they are. There’s a lot of ways that people sell and move around that looked so real back in the day that aren’t utilized now. For example the way Bobby Eaton sells taking a punch by holding his mouth and really selling it how he did isn’t done anymore.

To me, seeing all those bodies crowded around the ring like that adds such an air of legitimacy and importance to the match that I just don't feel when the ringside area is empty.

Dude is just built different.

Much like the double down 10 count thing that you noticed a couple matches ago. I think they just slowly phased out a few things, probably via Vince's choice. I wasn't a big fan of the double down spots since it would never actually end a match and was purely there to add that lil extra drama, But New Japan has done it twice in recent months and I have really enjoyed seeing that
