This match also took place six days after Vince announced the purchase of WCW, so this show is considered the end of the Attitude Era because of it. The sell from 40 you were thinking of that The Rock did was when Roman speared him.

Because if the rules say that when someone touches the ropes the hold has to be broken, and the wrestler doesn't break the hold, what would happen? That's when the five-count comes in, I thought. The end of which is a DQ. It seems like an unenforceable rule in a no-DQ match to me.

He got the Steve Austin name from the 6 million dollar man tv show where a guy was rebuilt w robot parts so I guess he was really leaning into that sometimes. Yes that's the same Debra from the video game. Debra was legit married to Austin. Now she's married to Lesnar last I knew. Rock sold his ass off. Nobody took a better stunner lol. The Spanish announce table was almost guaranteed to be destroyed during a PPV, so they always ended up w a regular ass table by the end of the show lol. They stopped the hand dropping 3 times thing maybe....10ish years ago? Could be wrong. But it was a silly trope lol. Really enjoyed this match, but this finish was almost universally panned. One of those "just for the shock of it" heel turns that never made sense. Led to some funny moments here n there, but it never went anywhere meaningful. Head shots weren't outlawed until after the Benoit situation. A former WWE wrestler named Chris Newinski led the charge in concussion research around the same time the NFL was doing the same.
