Undertaker vs Triple H - WM27

Watch: https://streamable.com/o7ztbf

Comments

Yeah it’s annoying that the commentary gets cut out on top of the music being changed as well

Big Ell

Wow. First time watching since I watched it live. The ripoff To Whom The Bell Tolls song actually sounded pretty good, but I wish they would have paid for permanent rights!

Big Ell

They aren't just catching their breaths. They are selling. Working the whole time to tell the story. Exhaustion really sells that they have gone to war and taken battle damage. It's one of the reasons I think wrestlers now a days are a bit too quick. Great cardio but you're missing a crucial part of the story if you don't take a moment to sell the ordeal you've just been through it just means less.

Nicholas Kramer

Your face when JR said Cole Mine is so funny. It made me legitimately laugh out loud.

Zakk219

This was when Michael Cole was a heel commentator so he would sit in a glass box so people couldn’t touch him

Beauman Davis

About the down time between moves, yes they're getting a breather but it's also them being able to the story within the match and sell how much has been taken out of them and how weak their bodies become over the course how the match. Something a lot of guys today can't do. These 2 are true in match storytellers. Great match and yes you do have to watch The End Of An Era match

Hunter

Hey there was even more laying down in wm 28 match and they never used the cell was very slow and boring 1 spot was a good false finish but apart from that I don't like that match I think its very overated u might like it but I didn't it weird one liked it 1st time watch 2nd time watch I didn't at all never used cell much taker laying down too much hhh shouting stay down for 5 to 10 mins yh that wasant for me at all that 1 of the worst cell matches I ever seen

Ryan Evans

Hey they stopped doing headshots in summer in 2007 was a good reason tho long story short there was this wrestler called Chris benoit he had loads head concussions and had cte like nfl players do long story short in June 07 he snapped killed his wife and kid and himself then after that because benoit cte and steroid use led up to the tragedy wwe stopped headshots to the head and have regular checks on talents for head trauma injuries the benoit tragedy nearly killed the buisness it made lot of fans not want to watch wrestling nomore plus what didn't help around that time wrestlers were dieing under 50 so wwe were getting blamed for why wrestlers died young but its good no headshots stops people getting cte and also wrestlers ain't dieing so young now so the wrestling industry's much healthier now and in a better place to 07 il be happy if I never see headshot again as I know what it causes to happen to people but just my opinion so that's why mate u don't see headshots in wwe nomore

Ryan Evans

Hey this a video what a youtuber did few months ago she did ranking every taker mania streak match like hate it to love it was very interesting video recomend u to check it out she has a good channel

Ryan Evans

To answer question mate about that round box near commentary so in 2010 and 11 they were doing an anonymous gm where someone would send an email to the laptop when did it make a notification noise everyone can hear then cole would read the message the gm said say like change to a match or number 1 contender match was reveled later on years ago the secret gm was hornswaggle was a weird story back then

Ryan Evans

I say 3 other matches what are hhh best matches is him vs cactus Jack rumble 2000 Street fight mania 20 him vs hbk vs benoit great match and hbk vs hhh no dq summerslam 02 brilliant match and that summerslam is a great show mate if u did that show as a watchalong that be a great show I think it the best summerslam ever

Ryan Evans

Its weird in build up they never mentioned there match at mania 17 taker was biker taker faced hhh at that ppv no dq match then year after this wm 28 hiac match my least fav match between them

Ryan Evans

In a full match? Yes I think so.

Dport

Was this ur first time seeing hhh wrestle?

Ryan Evans

Have u seen when the streak ended vs brock that match wm 30 that was 1 of the biggest shocks ever in history in wrestling I thought brock come really close but taker just about beat him but when brock won everyone was shocked

Ryan Evans

Just one thing for XXVIII, you’ll have to pull up the video package for the match on YouTube because they didn’t show it before the match started.

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

Both men were fined for the chai shot to the head

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

Love both guys but I thought it was boring the last time I watched it too.

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

Original song was For Whom the Bell Tolls by Metallica.

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

It’s SO much worse than it sounds lol. Vince had a lot of failed experiments in that period. 2010 and 2011 were really dark times for fans.

Jordan Alford

Yes sir, they do that with pretty much any licensed music once it hits the network

Blaine Cardwell

I like knowing those two were close

Dport

Michael Cole as a heel sounds so weird to me

Dport

It wasn't too bad. But definitely not what I've become used to

Dport

This makes much much more sense lol

Dport

This makes sense

Dport

Is that what happened there?

Dport

I vote go one more year and watch Punk vs Taker at 29 lol

Kam

It was absolutely horrendous. When wrestling is great it unbelievable. But when it’s bad ooof.

Jordan Alford

This was a really bad time to be a wrestling fan lol

Blaine Cardwell

Bro them replacing Metallica with a generic rip off song sucks so fucking hard

Blaine Cardwell

I'd say to go through until Bray atleast. Not the best matches after Punk but still worth the watch to get an even bigger idea of the streak.

Jordan Amos

This match never did much for me at all, but it is very much needed for watching 29. Just need to say this also.

Jordan Amos

Unprotected Chair shots to the head stoped around 2008, when the company went PG. It’s also due to what was becoming well known about trauma to the head in all of sports at the time. Specifically their own wrestler Chris Benoit who killed his wife, son and himself the previous year in 2007 was found to have the brain of an 85 year old Alzheimer’s patient. So these factors most likely contributed to the headshots being banned. The one seen here is a protected chair shot(he got his hands up) but they weren’t even doing these at all during this time either so it was a bit surprising to see. Also side note, that ref that pins funny is Scott Armstrong, who is also the brother of Road Dogg. He becomes the authority stable’s personal ref around 2013 so he’s not used regularly after that. He just worked backstage for a while afterwards.

David

Undertaker was really hurt after the match ended, heck undertaker went on record to say when he got thru the curtain vince told em: This is not my Undertaker goes out(carted out)

WinGaming PT

HHH had to retire from in-ring competition due to an issue with his heart. Last thing any of us want to see is someone dying in a wrestling ring. There is one thing that gets at me though and that was the build up to his match with Batista where they put their careers on the line against each other and HHH says, "You're not the one!" I would love for him to answer who would have been his retirement match. I always assumed it would be the Rock but I guess we'll never know.

Bryan Sem

That was such a god awful time. Michael Cole became so unbearable and I liked Cole as an announcer compared to people who just hated him no matter what. To add to this Michael Cole became a face again and left that obnoxious heel character behind after King had a heart attack.

Bryan Sem

I agree 👍

Brett Schutte

So both the entrances require a bit of an explanation. In the original broadcast, the first part of Triple H’s entrance had Metallica’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls” playing and Taker had Johnny Cash’s “Ain’t no Grave”. They’ve both been dubbed over for copyright reasons. I really suggest finding both of the original entrances because they’re both excellent and the music really makes them.

Ryan Redd

One thing i love about these older matches is the selling and the struggle. A lot of current wrestlers blow off moves just to get to the next move, then when they win, they're all of a sudden walking straight as if they weren't in a grueling match lol. Also back then after a match like this, wrestlers would show up the next night with bandages, sometimes for a few weeks depending on what happened. But i do appreciate the faster pace of today's product, i just wish that a lot of the foundation of wrestling/storytelling was still popular

Cameron Miles

If he gonna do that one may as well also do Punk V Taker and watch all those matches also Punk V Taker is such a great match

Des

In terms of the middle of the match, being in the moment and watching it live made it way better because you weren’t sure if the streak was going to end but knowing how the match ends I can see how the middle would drag on

Jakob Micheal

Michael Cole was a massive heel at the time so the Cole Mine was to prevent him from being assaulted lol

Jordan Alford

HHH and Shawn are legitimately Best Friends. Not just Tag Partners. They’re incredibly close in real life. So yeah it was about revenge for Taker retiring Shawn.

Jordan Alford

Am I wrong to saying you need to watch the Undertaker vs Brock Lesner match...... I think you should watch that match... P.S if listen to his song you know Why he's the game.....

Brett Schutte

I've mentioned it before but you should react to wrestling isn't wrestling by the youtube channel uptomyknees. It will give you allot more insight to HHH's character. As Oscar said it wasn't so much about retiring Shawn as it was HHH trying to prove he was better than Shawn. A huge part of HHH's character was just that always trying to prove he was better than Shawn.

Drew Or Die

You can say it was part revenge for Undertaker retiring his tag partner (but more importantly best friend) but a big part of it is HHH trying to prove he's better than Shawn. HHH is a complex character, and insecurity plays a big part in that.

Oscar Islas

Honestly better off remembered as ai

n0pe

It wasn't an AI gm it was a person known as the "anonymous" gm they would send a message through a laptop and Micheal Cole would then read off what the laptop said. We eventually found out who it was and it was a real person but i won't spoil who it was. Even though it was one the worst pay offs to one of the worst gimmicks ever
