Regarding the reason for the early pinfalls/pinfalls you know the guy will kick out of, there's a couple reasons in kayfabe to do it. First is it forces your opponent to expend extra energy to kick out against your body weight on theirs. Every little bit can matter in a big, long match. Another reason is psychological. You're forcing them into a position they don't want to be in, and even if its subtle, you're changing the momentum of the match, putting them on their back and forcing to react to you. It could be the same as death by a thousand cuts, you keep weakening their resolve during the match, and then you catch them slipping or losing focus and finish them.

2024-05-07 01:39:57 +0000 UTCI think a lot of people hit on the questions you asked already. I was planning to ask you if you and your wife had got into independent wrestling yet, so i'm glad you mentioned on this episode. I highly recommend to find a company in your area you enjoy. I have one in my area that honestly is my favorite wrestling company to watch overall. Also it's just so cool because since they are so small and intimate, you get to meet the wrestlers before/after shows. I know my favorite local indie does an after party after each show where you can go hang out with the talent. I got the opportunity to strike up a relationship with people like Tomasso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae before they made it to WWE and it makes it so much cooler watching them now being I think 'I used to go have pizza after indie shows with those people and now they are legitimate superstars.' As for future Patreon videos and ideas I hope uploading yourself reacting to full PLE's go well, but also perhaps a perk you could offer is occasionally doing a live watch along where you watch an old PLE on Discord or somewhere that Patreon's can watch it live with you so we can answer questions in real time. If we can make it work with us all talking during the show that could be fun, otherwise we can type while you talk. On the Patreon for my podcast, we do occasional zoom hangouts that just allow our listeners to spend an hour or two on a video call with us asking questions, discussing The Challenge (the tv show we cover), or just goofing off. Great way to build a community.

2024-05-07 01:25:26 +0000 UTCKeep this watch alongs as is, I have been enjoying em. I havent ever watched this match and it was really good watching, even if it was a match I wouldn't see or have much hype about if I went into it. Curious to see your watch along of the CM Punk vs Cena one, that was a really an amazing match! Keep the good work going, curious to see your reaction to the package of punk vs cena because half of the match was what was at stake and the other was the way they did the match

2024-05-06 11:21:01 +0000 UTCShinsuke was such a big deal because he was a top 3 name from New Japan Pro Wrestling at the time, NXT was taking guys from all over the world, from other big promotions to create something of a "Super-Indy", the issue with this is that HHH got it and was running NXT at the time, taking these guys and teaching them the WWE style a little. this did take a little bit away from them as performers but the main issue came when these guys would go up to the main roster and Vince has zero clue who they were or how big of a deal they were, it happened with Finn, Zayn, Samoa Joe, Nakamura, Asuka, Bayley, The Revival, time after time, for years. Now the transition between NXT and main roster seems to be much more seemless and there is more communication with HBK running NXT and HHH running the main roster, there seems to be a much brighter destination for the new generation of Ilja, Bron, Hayes and the women like Roxanne and Tiffany. As for Shinsuke, is WWE run never got better than this match. He had a chance vs AJ at Mania one year, a match that had been an incredble bout at New Japan's WrestleKingdom(Their Mania) but when it was put on a WWE show it just didn't work, the style was different and Vince just didn't "Get it"

2024-05-06 11:19:01 +0000 UTCAnother suggestion for other stuff you could do on patreon is reactions to Youtube video essays about wrestling. Super Eyepatch Wolf has a number of really good ones. The one about Roman is especially good, considering you've only seen heel roman and didn't have to suffer through the Roman we got between 2014 and 2020 lol.

2024-05-06 10:57:55 +0000 UTCExcited for this! as far as what content goes where I feel like the more main stream casual stuff would fit more on the YouTube side of things and then full reactions/more niche reactions could be for the Patreon

2024-05-06 10:40:20 +0000 UTCAnother good video! I can’t wait until you the Cena Vs Punk Money in the bank. That match is amazing! I would definitely watch some promos before the match. Maybe watch Punk promos like watch along with us. Not just the promo before the match also the promos on Monday night raw. If don’t do a watch along for Raw promos it’s cool just a suggestion.

2024-05-06 04:52:54 +0000 UTCGunther vs Ilya Dragunov on a random episode of NXT TV in 2020 is a MUST WATCH. This match is talked about as a classic and got multiple legends to sit down watch it and react to it. It was filmed in the pandemic era so you can hear every single word spoken every kick heard every chop delivered you hear it with full impact. They are on some UFC level timing. In terms of other matches, just go with the wrestler you haven't seen before. If you want to see a good match from Ric Flair, Bret Hart, Kurt Angle, Dusty Rhodes, Andre the Giant, The Von Erichs, etc just ask for suggestions for that person and pick the most popular one. That should get you the best results in terms of finding the best matches for the guy you want to be introduced to.

2024-05-06 04:52:07 +0000 UTCGreat reaction! Just a heads-up if you plan on tuning in to NXT in the future. I'd say there are about 3-4 major eras of NXT: - Game Show Era (2010-2012) - Black & Gold/TakeOver Era (2012-2017) - Undisputed Era (2017-2021) - 2.0 Era (2021-Present) What you watched was during the Black & Gold era, when Triple H took over as head of creative and essentially made NXT its own brand/show, akin to Smackdown/Raw, but with a bit more self-containment, featuring its own storylines and matches. Many argued that it offered a higher quality than what was happening on the main roster at the time, largely due to the absence of random Vince McMahon booking decisions and just letting the Wrestlers goddamn Wrestle! However, by the 2020s, when they were arguably losing to AEW in terms of ratings/popularity, Vince decided to rebrand the show, making it even more developmental, with a focus on younger talents who were greener and rougher around the edges in terms of character work and gimmicks. It felt like a blend of 90s Gimmick Wrestling and Black & Gold. This shift turned many fans of the Black & Gold era away from the program. Additionally, with Triple H moving on to being the Main Roster Head of Creative, NXT is now managed by his friend Shawn Michaels. Just wanted to share my perspective to help you navigate the tonal shift. Looking forward to more reactions! And it's great that you liked the match!

2024-05-06 03:47:50 +0000 UTCIt’s hard to tell because nakamuras been in the wwe for a while now, but he was a BIG deal when he was signed by wwe, he was already considered one of the modern greats of Japan before he made the jump

2024-05-06 02:31:36 +0000 UTCThat era of NXT was unbelievable. Went to Takeover 25 in 2019, and to this day it's probably the best show I've ever been to. The crowd chanting "both these guys" at the 13 min mark btw. . The theory behind the quick pins at the beginning of the matches is to make them waste energy kicking out, which pays off later in the match, but I get why that comes across as silly lol. Balor Club was Finn's homage to Bullet Club which was his faction in New Japan, which was the most popular faction in the world at that time. When he left Japan for WWE, all his merch was Balor Club, but they never made it an official faction. And they look at the ref to time the kick out properly on the 3 count, some are better at hiding it than others. If the person being pinned isn't looking at the ref, it's a good indicator that it's probably the finish of the match. They used to air the Takeover shows on the WWE network so blood was ok. Shinsuke was such a big deal once upon a time, so disappointed that they never really gave him a bigger spotlight on the main roster.

2024-05-06 02:29:58 +0000 UTCThe reason for the holy shit chants at then end of Nakamaura's entrance was because no one ever expected to see him in a WWE ring. He was one of the biggest wrestlers in Japan and was an absolute legend over there so no one ever expected him to leave. Still to this day but especially in 2016 most people who watched NXT where hardcore fans so the vast majority of NXT fans where at least aware of his work in Japan. So this was treated as a big deal rightfully so

2024-05-06 01:54:49 +0000 UTCAs mentioned above i think reacting to some classic promos/talking segments would be really cool . Also it would be cool to see you react to some wrestling related videos such as Wrestling isn't Wrestling by the youtube channel Uptomyknees. It attempts to explain why people like wrestling by going over Triple h's career and explaining how that story unfolded across 2 decades and is must watch for any wrestling fan in my opinion. Here is a link if you do end up checking it out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYvMOf3hsGA

2024-05-06 00:37:30 +0000 UTCIn addition to full PLE/show watchalongs, I think it'd be cool to see your reactions to some classic promo/talking segments if you'd be willing. As for this match, it's Shinsuke's in-ring WWE debut after being a main event star in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), while Sami is about to debut on the main roster in the Royal Rumble. The NXT crowd has always been super supportive of wrestlers who are able to get over and they tend to be more aware of wrestling outside of WWE than the main show audience, so they gave both Shinsuke and Sami the big match welcome they deserved.

2024-05-06 00:31:28 +0000 UTCFew answers to some of your questions: The Balor Club shirt: Finn Balor (when he was known as (Prince Devitt) was the creator of the Bullet Club in Japan. (The same bullet club that AJ Styles, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and The Good Brothers were a part of.) The Balor club design is an homage to the original Bullet Club T-Shirt. Sami's goodbye: Sami was going into a ladder match at WrestleMania that same weekend so everyone knew this was his last NXT showing. Shinsuke Title Reigns: Shinsuke has only held the IC, US, NXT and Tag titles in WWE so far but he is arguably one of the greatest IWGP (New Japan) Champions. So maybe one of those matches could be a nice introduction into New Japan some day for you. ^^
